Season Round Up for HJSA Stars

Friday 14 August 2015

A round up to the season of some of HJSA younger stars!

Zac  Toes

In August Zac began the 2014/15 season in style by winning the U15 Northants Summer Junior Open however shortly after was blighted with a series of knee problems which forced him to miss the next 6 months of the season.

In February 2015, Zac returned to competition and proceeded to win the U13 Allam, Appleyard Lees, Kia Motors Stanley Cars and Chapel Allerton Bronze Junior Opens in a successful 4 month period.

In May 2015 Zac entered his first silver event of the season in the U13 Allam Junior Open and narrowly lost 3-2 in the final after beating a number of higher ranked players.

After moving into the U15 category in June 2015, Zac will be hoping to have a good summers training, improve his ranking and feature in the Yorkshire U15 Inter County Squad

Lydia Robinson

Lydia, has had an outstanding 2014/15 national and international season. Having captained both the Yorkshire and North East U13 girls’ teams to county and regional victory in January 2015, she played No.1 for the English girls U13 team in the 5 nations championships in March, helping England to a clean sweep in their victory over the home nations and France. Her outstanding season has been finished in style with a win at the English National Championships, which gained Lydia the No.1 spot in the U13 ranking in England.

Lydia turned 13 in June. She has already had wins at bronze tournaments in the U15 age group and so far has achieved a ranking of 21st in England at U15.

Lexie Ogram

Lexie has enjoyed another successful season; reaching joint 7th in the England rankings and finishing 8th in the U11 national championships. She won Bronze open tournaments in Newcastle, Boston and Hull as well as retaining her Humber Closed title. Her team squash also brought great satisfaction and success, with Yorkshire A convincingly winning the u11 Inter-County festival trophy and the Yorkshire B squad coming 5th in the u13 equivalent. Lexie was the youngest player to compete in the finals of the u15 National Schools' Championship, helping Hymers College to gain an impressive 5th place with a young team. Another particular highlight was of course being able to attend the Allam British Open in our own city and being lucky enough to meet several of the professionals - inspirational for any young squash player!
